Julian continues to study martial arts, other than Fung Sau, to further his knowledge, and further enhance this progressive style.

He is currently studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Enigma Gym under the expert tuition of Paul Rice who is a Black Belt and student of Professor Lucio Sergio . Professor Lucio is a full time competitor and 3 times World Champion.

He also studied Shotokan Karate with his youngest daughter for three years. Whilst studying Shotokan Julian competed in a kata tournament (Oct 15) which he won as a white belt against Kyu grades up to brown belt.

In March 2016 Julian competed in the Karate Union of Great Britain (largest Shotokan association in the UK) National Kyu Grade Championships (up to first Kyu).

He was the oldest competitor and the lowest grade in the competition, however he quickly established dominance and was crowned Champion in freestyle kumite (fighting).

Over the years Julian has been lucky enough to train with many Martial Arts legends including the one and only Terry O’Neill.

In 2006 the premier US martial arts magazine "Black Belt" published a list of the "deadliest fighters on the planet"

Sensei Terry O’Neill was ranked number one!

When Julian first trained with Sensei O’Neill he was a white belt in Shotokan, however after the beginners’ class Sensei O’Neill asked Julian to stay and train with the black belts. The below is taken from a text that Sensei O’Neill sent to Julian after the black belt session.

Sensei Alan Hodkinson  began training in Fung Sau in 1987 with the late Master Chamberlain. For the past two years he has trained under the expert tutelage of Sensei Jules Dale-Hutchinson where he has been able to develop all areas of his knowledge and skill in the discipline of Fung Sau Combat System, culminating in him achieving the rank of Shodan (1st Dan) in July 2018.

He has had a real interest in the Martial Arts for over three decades and has trained in other systems, such as Wing Chun. His first love has and always will be the unique form of Martial Art that is Fung Sau.

Sensei Grace Dale-Hutchinson is the newest Shodan (1st Dan Black Belt) at the club achieving this rank in November 2019.

Although Grace is only 17 years old she has been training in striking arts with her father, Shihan Julian Dale-Hutchinson, since she was 4. Her skill is unprecedented, as is her speed, which has led to her receiving the nickname 'Amazing Grace the Jet Dale-Hutchinson'.

Her calm nature make her extremely approachable for all students and she is always willing to go above and beyond in terms of the support she provides to assist all students in achieving their potential.
